Today, we got a no cooling service call for a rental home in Cary. When i arrived, i noticed that the condenser was iced up so i pulled the disconnect to service the HVAC. I took a shop vac up to the air handler to clean up the water in the drain pan. I removed the cover to the iced up AC coil so that i could thaw it out. Having experience doing HVAC service is helpful to the technician, homeowner and renter. The HVAC has a leaking air conditioning coil and needs to be replaced.
Its important to change leaking HVAC coils because they can cause water damage to the ceiling. I used my shop vac to clean up water that was dripping into the pan and onto the floor, The coil took time to thaw out so i went downstairs hooked up the gauges and a Freon tank. I went back upstairs and called the owner who was driving to inform him of his repair options, He decided to add Freon, while i search for his coil replacement.
